The Isle of Wight Council is making it easier for residents to pay council tax bills or penalty charge notices in its two biggest libraries.
The council is the first local authority in the UK to use its self-service kiosks at Ryde and Newport libraries to offer the service. It is part of a trial called ‘My Community’ which is being carried out by national firm Bibliotecha, which supplies the kiosks.
Easy to use
It is very easy to use the kiosks to pay your council bill. All you need is the bill’s reference number and your debit or credit card. It works by selecting the My Community option on the kiosk, inputting the reference number, entering the payment amount and using your card to pay.
A full video demonstration on how to use the self-service kiosks to pay a bill can be found on the council’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/iwcouncil.
The service will be extended to the other four council run libraries, Freshwater, Cowes, Sandown and Ventnor once a self service kiosk is installed in each library in November.
