A row of Margarita cocktails at the Cowes branch of Smoking Lobster

Plans to expand the popular Smoking Lobster venture (updated)

A popular small Isle of Wight restaurant and bar chain is looking to expand.

Following the success of other ‘Lobster’ ventures, Giancarlo Giancovich is looking to expand its latest addition, the Smoking Lobster in Cowes.

New wine, sake and cocktail bar
The restaurant opened in May 2021 in the former Tiffins cafe and now, much like its original home in Ventnor, is looking to add a Drunken Lobster wine, sake and cocktail bar nearby.

If approved, the bar would open above the Megan Baker Estate Agents on the High Street, next door.

Well-being and Pilates studio
A well-being and Pilates studio could also be built as part of the plans, which have been submitted to the Isle of Wight council.

It would be the fourth branch in the ‘Lobster’ portfolio created. There’s a Smoking Lobster on Ventnor Esplande and a Drunken Lobster up the hill on Pier Street.

The cocktail bar has applied for a licence to serve hot food, but in the meantime desserts and savoury food will be on the menu.

You can view the plans 22/02240/FUL, on the council’s planning register.

The public consultation runs until 17th February.
