Police appeal for info after sentimental items stolen

Police shares this latest appeal. Ed

Officers are investigating a burglary in Spencer Road, Ryde, which happened at around 3.20am on August 12.

Entry was gained and a search of the address was carried out during which several items were stolen.

The items included a pair of Royal Marine cufflinks which has been left to the victim by his grandfather, a ladies gold vintage Omega watch and a gold HTC M8 mobile phone.

Detective Chief Insp Nick Heelan said:

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time or who may have been offered these items for sale.

“The cufflinks and watch are of real sentimental value to the victim and I would urge anyone who may have information to come forward so that we can reunite these items with their rightful owner.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind residents to keep their homes secure during the summer months.

“At this time of year it is not unusual for burglary rates to rise along with the temperatures.

“The hot temperatures have meant we’re more likely to leave doors and windows open to keep our homes cool.

“Although this may make your house more bearable when you return home, leaving windows open all day is sometimes an invitation for the opportunistic burglar.”
