Police appeal for information after burglary in Ryde

Detectives investigating a burglary in Ryde are appealing for information after a handbag was stolen from a home whilst the owner was outside gardening.

The incident occurred at an address in Church Road, Binstead on Tuesday, April 30 between the hours of midday and 7.30pm. The front door to the property was shut, but not locked.

The victim, a 67-year-old woman only noticed her handbag missing when she entered her lounge later that evening. It contained £300 in cash, some debit cards and some items of sentimental value.

Investigating officer Det. Con. Rhian Fairweather said:

“During the afternoon the victim noticed a man whom she didn’t recognise from the area acting slightly out of the ordinary, he was described as white, slim build, in his 20s with very short fair hair and wearing light coloured clothing.

We would be interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen this man or who has any information about the stolen black leather handbag.”
