Police Appeal For Witnesses Following Calbourne Road Collision

Police TapePolice are appealing for witnesses following at collision on the B3401 Calbourne Road, Isle of Wight on Sunday. (24/04)

The crash happened shortly before 8pm when a red Honda Civic travelled from Freshwater towards Newport left the road and collided with a tree.

Teenage driver and passenger
The driver, an 18-year-old Totland Bay man and passenger a 17-year-old Freshwater woman, sustained serious injuries and had to be cut from the vehicle by Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

They were taken to St Mary’s Hospital where the driver remains in a stable condition. The 17-year-old woman has been transferred to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

Road being examined
The road remained closed for seven hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw the red Honda prior to it, to come forward.
