Police warn Mini drivers following a spate of fuel thefts

Police on the Isle of Wight are warning Mini drivers to be vigilant following a series of fuel thefts across the island.

The first incident occurred overnight between Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26 in Somerset Road, Ryde. The owner of a black Mini Cooper reported petrol siphoned from their vehicle and the petrol cap had been stolen.

Again in Seaview
A few nights later, between Saturday April 27 and Sunday, April, 28, another attempt occurred in Seaview Lane, Seaview, after an owner reported someone had tried to steal fuel and the petrol cap was missing from their red Mini Cooper.

Lastly in Cowes
The latest incident occurred between Sunday May 5 and Monday, May 6 in Rogerson Close, Cowes.

The owner of a red Mini Mayfair told police that fuel and the petrol cap had been taken whilst the vehicle had been parked on the driveway overnight.

Advice from police
Police advise owners when possible to make sure vehicles are left in well lit areas or in a secure driveway or garage.
