This coming weekend sees the return of the Pickle Wars.
The annual event is in its 10th year and intends to be every bit as enthralling in 2011 as it has in past years.
Last year saw over 40 entries in the Pickled Onion competition and similar numbers are expected this year.
The event has grown over the years and is now a permanent fixture in the charitable events calender, last year we caught up with one of the organisers, Terry Ashdown (podcast) to hear more about how it all came about.
Fantastic auction items
There are some utterly amazing items in the auction, all for a very worthy cause, Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.
We’re told that a whopping £27,000 was raised in 2010 in the last nine years through raffles and charity auctions on the Island for the charity.
Full details of times etc are over on Events OnTheWight.
If you do go along, make sure you don’t have any important meetings the next day, an overdose of pickled onions can take their toll for several days.
