Three men have been sentenced, two of whom were sent to prison, in relation to weapons offences on the Isle of Wight.
Shortly before 11pm on Monday 3rd May this year, police received a number of calls from members of the public about a group of men shouting in the street in Oak Vale, Oakfield.
Chainsaw and harpoon spotted
The men were seen carrying weapons including a chainsaw and harpoon, before they all got into a car and drove away from the area.
Following enquiries, police stopped a car on Ashey Road in Ryde, in the early hours of the following morning, which was being driven by 27-year-old Conor Pattrick. He was arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers searched the car and found an improvised stun gun.
Two other men, 25-year-old Cameron Baker (pictured right) and 23-year-old Cayliam Sheen (pictured left), were later arrested by police as part of the investigation.
Charged and sentenced
The three men were charged and have been subsequently sentenced in relation to the following offences:
- Conor Anthony Pattrick, of High Street in Freshwater, was charged with affray, being a driver and failing to provide a specimen to police, possession of an electrical incapacitation device, and possession of an offensive weapon.
- Cameron Wayne Baker, formerly of Station Avenue in Sandown, was charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon.
- Cayliam Marly Sheen, of Elm Grove in Newport, was charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
They pleaded guilty to all offences at previous hearings.
18 months in prison
Appearing at Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Tuesday 10th August) Baker and Sheen were sentenced to eighteen months in prison, and Pattrick was handed an eighteen month community order which includes 75 hours of unpaid work and a driving disqualification for twelve months.
