Public invited to have their say at Arreton planning meeting

Readers may remember our report a couple of weeks ago about a new campaign group set up to oppose large scale development in rural areas, ‘Keep It Rural’.

Campaigners from the group along with Arreton Villagers Against Development (AVAD) group are planning to attend a Parish council meeting tomorrow night as councillors consider the application for a development of 89 dwellings in Arreton.

The meeting was scheduled to take place on Monday 21st January at the Methodist Church in Arreton but was postponed and the meeting has now been re-arranged for tomorrow evening (Tuesday 28th) between 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Police presence
According to the CP, Police are expected to attend the meeting tonight after the chairman of the Arreton Parish Council appealed for an ‘orderly and democratic’ meeting.

Cllr Lin Watterson told the CP, “The community hall has a capacity of 100 people and we are expecting that to be exceeded. We have invited the local PC and PCSO to ensure order.”

See the plans and have your say on the planning website.
