Quay Arts’ OPEN Exhibition 2023: Call for emerging and established artists

Emerging and established artists are invited to submit works in any medium for Quay Arts’ biennial OPEN Exhibition 2023: ‘The Art of Sculpture’

Quay Arts’ biennial OPEN Exhibition is back! We’re delighted to invite emerging and established artists to submit works in any medium to be a part of our OPEN Exhibition, this year titled ‘The Art of Sculpture’.

One artist will be selected from the 2023 OPEN for a West Gallery solo exhibition in 2024 and in addition, a second prize of a Clayden Gallery solo show in 2024 will be awarded.

Whitmore: A chance to re-engage with the vibrancy of three-dimensional artworks
Arts Manager Ian Whitmore says,

“Our OPEN exhibitions are always a highlight of Quay Arts’ Visual Arts programme.

“After the last few years when cultural experiences may have become increasingly experienced online and viewed through the uniform flat plane of technology, we are excited to receive submissions from artists who explore the physicality of artwork, its impact in a space – whether large or small – and have a delight and understanding of materiality.

“For visitors we hope it will be a chance to re-engage with the vibrancy of three-dimensional artworks in real time.”

Supporting creative practice
Previous OPEN Exhibition winners include artists Paul Woods (2021), Rachel Johnston (2019 ) Caroline Underwood (2017), Joanna Kori (2015), Holly Cade and Liz Sterry (2013), Katayoun Dowlatshahi (2011), and Julian Rowe (2008).

Quay Arts continues to support the development and display of new work by contemporary visual artists and present work of national and international interest. It is through our OPEN Exhibitions we’re able to discover new talent and provide a platform for visual artists that wish to share their work with the world.
