Friday 26 July sees the return of Quay Arts’ popular Comedy Club, presenting three great comics in the comfort of the Quay Arts Café Bar.
Gordon Southern
With years of comedy experience under his belt Gordon Southern is one of the most sought after headline acts on the UK and international circuit. Gordon regularly plays to sell out audiences at the most prestigious clubs in the country including Comedy Store and Jongleurs.
His upbeat and energetic delivery combined with his fantastically funny observational comedy and quick witted improvisation has secured his place as an audience favourite.
An award winning writer with critical acclaim for numerous projects that he has worked on, Southern has written for some of the most memorable comedy shows of the last decade.
Not content with mastering stand-up and writing, Gordon is also a brilliant actor with praise from The British Theatre Guide for his debut acting role in Moon The Loon. His acting skills are not just confined to the stage however, he was the very memorable voice of the Admiral Insurance Parrot on their national TV and Radio ad campaigns.
Alan Francis
Scottish comedian Alan Francis first came to the notice of comedy audiences when he won Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny Award in 1991. Since then his reputation has grown as a writer, stand-up and actor.
On radio Alan co-starred on The Alan Davies Show (Radio 4). He has also contributed to Alan’s Big One FM (Radio 1), The Treatment (Radio 5), The Buzz (Radio 4) and two series of Slices of Life with Phill Jupitus (Radio 1). He co-wrote and starred in radio 5’s Sony Award nominated, Colin.
Dana Alexander
One of Canada’s most outspoken and hilarious women has packed her bags and is now in the UK. The only black female comedian on the circuit in Canada, Dana’s comedic style is both refreshing and irreverent, drawing her material from her diverse lifestyle, her gay friends and her crazy Jamaican family.
Originally from Edmonton, Dana began her comedy career at the tender age of 18 and quickly became a regular fixture in Canadian Comedy Clubs, universities and festivals. This will be a lady not to be missed.
