Red Funnel have announced they are scrapping the 23.10 Red Jet crossing from Southampton to Cowes from the beginning of next year.
The company say it “reflects reduced passenger demand for late-night crossings”.
From Wednesday 3rd January the last Red Jet departure from Southampton will change to 22:30, with the last departure from West Cowes changing to 23:05.
The last four crossings in each direction will be as follows:
Hi-Speed Red Jet evening service (Southampton to Cowes)
- Departing at: 18.30, 19.40, 21.05, 22.30
Hi-Speed Red Jet evening service (Cowes to Southampton)
- Departing at: 19.05, 20.15, 21.40, 23.05
Foot passengers enjoying a night out on the Mainland to see live music, theatre, comedy etc are being reminded they could consider using Red Funnel’s Southampton to East Cowes vehicle ferry service, with the final late-night departures still leaving Southampton at 23:55 and East Cowes at 22:30 and 01:30.
The operator’s Christmas timetable will also come into effect shortly, running from 19th December to 2nd January for both the Red Jet and the Vehicle Ferry service. For links to all timetables, visit the website.
Lakes: Updates are due to a reduction in demand
Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said,
“We apologise for any inconvenience these adjustments to Red Jet timetable may cause.
“The updates are due to a reduction in demand, which has dropped off substantially since 2019.
“We will continue to monitor passenger numbers travelling on all services and make timetable adjustments as necessary.”
Red Funnel say they will also adjust Red Jet sailing times on Southampton FC match days, ensuring fans can travel between West Cowes and Southampton. Further information will be made available in January.
