County Hall:

Register Office moves home during Isle of Wight Festival

This in from the council, in their own words. Ed

From Thursday 29 May at 1pm until close of business on Friday 27 June, the office will be based at County Hall due to Seaclose Park being closed to public access. The service will be back at its usual Seaclose Park offices from Saturday 28 June.

Visitors wishing to use the Register Office should report to the main reception area at County Hall. Public parking facilities will not be provided other than what is routinely available on the high street and surrounding roads.

From 27 May to 27 June, the Register Office will offer appointments between 9am and 5pm with first priority given to death registration appointments. Telephone enquiries will continue to be handled via the existing contact number on (01983) 823233.

Because archived registers are based off-site, it will not be possible in most cases to call and collect copies of certificates on a ‘while you wait’ basis. The service will continue to deal with copy certificate requests within the statutory five working day maximum. Customers are advised to contact the service well in advance to order copy certificates for births, marriages, deaths or civil partnerships registered on the Island.

Ordering of copy certificates can be done either via the online forms facility on www.iwight.com, directly over the phone, or by applying in writing to the Superintendent Registrar along with the correct fee.
