Julie Hoskyns has been in touch asking for VB’s help in promoting this charity work she’s involved with this Christmas. If you live in Niton or Whitwell and have young children, this should be of great interest. Ed
On Christmas eve afternoon/evening we will be taking a team (four) ponies pulling a carriage, dressed as reindeer around Niton and Whitwell.
We’ll be dressing the ponies and carriage up in tinsel, antlers, sleigh bells etc., and with our army of pixie helpers to help light our way, we’ll deliver presents to anyone old, or young.
We want as many people as possible to come out and support us and ‘Help for Heroes’.
Drivers be aware
We need people to be aware as they drive through the villages, so please spread the word to help avoid any accidents.
We also plan to visit the local pubs to raise funds for Help for Heroes. If you’re not going to be around on the day, you can donate through our Just Giving page.
Whitwell deliveries
We can deliver anywhere within the village or we are happy to meet people at the pub. Also included, Ashknowle Lane.
Niton deliveries
We will deliver along the following roads only. The Glen, School Lane, Laceys lane (and roads off), Allotment Rd, Rectory Rd, Newport Rd (as far as Laceys La), Church St, Blackgang Rd (as far as the one way), Barrack Shute Hill as far as the Glen. Anybody else who would like a delivery can meet us at the White Lion near the Christmas tree.
What to do
We ask that people wrap a present (not too big please) place a sticker which clearly states the name and address of the recipient on it and deliver it to either the Niton co-ordinator, Carolyn at 1 Field View, School Lane Niton (evenings only) or the Whitwell co-ordinator, Julie at Hobbit House, High Street, Whitwell along with a minimum £2.00 donation per present or £5.00 a household (4 presents) which we are giving to Help for Heroes this year.
