Poppy wreath on war memorial

Remembrance Services taking place in Ventnor this week (updated)

This week Ventnor sees two Remembrance Services take place.

The first is on Friday 11th November at the Ventnor Royal British Legion at the top end of the High Street (opposite the Library).

A Remembrance Service begins at 10:45am and is followed by a 40-minute talk, covering the history, role and scope of caring for our War Dead, both at home in the UK and across the world.

Bugle calls
Former Royal Navy serviceman, William Nixon, invite others to join him at Ventnor’s cenotaph on Park Avenue, for an act of remembrance at 11am on 11th November.

Two minutes silence and bugle calls will be followed by a respectful, non-political address by William Nixon, formally of the Royal Navy.

Sunday services
Sunday 13th November sees the return of the Service of Remembrance at St Catherine’s Church from 2pm.

This is followed by laying of wreaths 3pm at Ventnor War Memorial on Park Avenue.

This Commemorative Service is organised by Ventnor Town Council in association with the Royal British Legion, Ventnor.
