The iconic Needles Lighthouse which sits off the west coast of the Isle of Wight is about to undergo a much-needed repair programme.
The lighthouse, which was built in 1859 at a cost of £20,000, has seen the chalk rock which it was built on erode over the years.
A concrete ring is being constructed to ensure that the lighthouse will remain in place for years to come.
The BBC is reporting the costs for the repairs will run to around £500,000.
