A father and son twice had reason to be grateful to the RNLI in the Solent this week, the second time last night when their 23 foot speedboat had to be towed to safety by Cowes lifeboat.
Lymington RNLI
Only three days before Lymington lifeboat was tasked with towing the boat into Lymington, where the craft had apparently just been purchased.
On both occasions the boat had suffered the same engine failure while trying to reach Hamble.
Cowes RNLI launched
When assured after the first tow that the problem had been sorted, they set out from Lymington once more, only to stutter to a halt yet again near Lepe Middle Buoy.
After anchoring they eventually summoned help through Solent Coastguards, and Cowes lifeboat duly launched at 8.40pm.
The craft was towed to Hamble and the lifeboat returned to station two hours later.
