BEMBRIDGE:
Hillway Road (outside Tall Trees).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 3.30pm on each day Mondays to Fridays from Wednesday 8 January 2014 until Wednesday 15 January 2014 for drainage works (the installation of new gullies and pipes) by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.
BINSTEAD:
Newnham Lane (outside 21).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Tuesday 14 January until 4.30pm on Friday 17 January 2014 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks.
Traffic delays will occur.
BRADING:
Cross Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 2 December 2013 and Friday 20 December 2013 between High Street and West Street. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The one way restriction on Cross Street will be temporarily suspended to allow access during the works
The alternative route for traffic is West Street and A3055 High Street.
CARISBROOKE:
B3323 Carisbrooke Road (outside 25, near Spring Lane ford.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Wednesday 11 December until 3pm on Thursday 12 December 2013 due to urgent building works by John Urry.
All works have now been completed.
CHALE:
B3399 Chale Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 5 days between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 20 December 2013 from a point 310 metres north of its junction with Gotten Lane to a point 325 metres south of its junction with Gotten Lane.
The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads
The diversion route will be: Chale Street, Appleford Road, Niton Road, Newport Road, High Street (Niton), A3055 New Road, Blackgang Road, Blythe Shute, B3399 Church Place and Chale Street.

EAST COWES:
Maresfield Road will be closed from 8am on Friday 13 September 2013 until 6pm on Friday 20 December 2013 between Old Road and the entrance to Maresfield Road Car Park (approx. 65 metres from Cambridge Road junction for reconstruction works by Walker Construction for Peter Brett Associates.
Access to Maresfield Road Car Park will be maintained from the Cambridge Road direction.
DIVERSION ROUTE: Old Road and Cambridge Road. The closures are required for reconstruction of Maresfield Road.
Castle Street (from entrance to Waitrose Store toMaresfield Road / Columbine Road Old Road junction).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 7.30am on Wednesday 13 November until 6pm on Friday 20 December 2013 for kerbing and drainage works by Walker Construction for Peter Brett Associates.
Alfred Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 16 December 2013 until 4pm on Tuesday 17 December 2013 between Adelaide Grove and Clarence Road. The closure is required for the replacement of a water service connection outside number 22, by Clancy Dowcra on behalf of Southern Water.
The diversion route will be: Adelaide Grove, Minerva Road and Clarence Road.
FRESHWATER:
B3399 Newport Road (rear of the garden of 14 Afton Barns), 30 to 50 metres Chessell side of Manor Road.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 7.30am and 6pm on each day between Friday 20 December and Monday 24 December 2013 for tree felling works by Tree Surgery & Garden Services.
Traffic delays will occur.
Cameron Close will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am on Monday 18 November 2013 until 7am on Monday 18th May 2015 between the northern boundary of number 2 (45 metres north of the junction with Camp Road) and the end of the surfaced highway (110 metres to the northeast of Camp Road). The closure is required for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new development by Stoneham Construction Ltd.
There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.
The public footpath between Cameron Close and Jubilee Close will be also closed to pedestrians from7am on Monday 18th November 2013 until 7am on Sunday 18th May 2014 from the end of the surfaced highway in Cameron Close (105 metres to the north east of Camp Road) to the end of the surfaced highway in Jubilee Close (110 metres to the northwest of Camp Road) for the same reason.
There is no alternative route for pedestrians.
Princes Road will be closed from 9am until 12pm (noon) on Tuesday 17 December 2013 no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Princes Road, Freshwater between The Avenue and Silcombe Lane. The closure is required for carriageway repair works to be carried out outside The Orchards.
The diversion route will be: Northbound; A3055 Avenue Road, High Street and Silcombe Lane. Southbound; Silcombe Lane, Heathfield Road, A3055 Colwell Road, A3054 The Avenue.
If works are unable to be completed on Tuesday 17 December 2013 due to adverse weather conditions the works will be completed at the same times on Wednesday 18 December or on Thursday 19 December 2013.
HAVENSTREET:
Church Road will be closed for the North-eastern junction with Main Road to Pondcast Lane between 6.30am and 6pm on 3 to 5 days from Tuesday 3 December until Wednesday 18 December 2013 for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
Diversion route: Main Road and Church Road.
LAKE:
A3055 Lake Hill junction with The Fairway and Denness Road)
Temporary traffic lights were in operation between 9am until 3pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between Monday 2 December and Wednesday 11 December 2013 for cable works in connection with the construction a new broadband cabinet by Morrison’s Utilities for British Telecom.
All works have been completed.
NEWPORT:
Long Lane (outside Brickfield Cottage)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Wednesday 17 December 2013 fir hedge cutting works adjacent to high voltage overhead electriccables by Groundsell contracting for Scottish & Southern Energy.
Traffic delays will occur.
A3020 Parkhurst Road (junction with Clissold Road)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until approx. 11am on Tuesday 17 December 2013 for the installation of a new gas governor Kioskby Southern Gas Networks.
Traffic delays will occur.
NITON:
Newport Road will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 20 December 2013 between Laceys Lane and Southford Lane .The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works.
The works are located Laceys Lane to a point 290 metres northeast and from 310 metres south of Southford Lane to 610 metres south of Southford Lane.
Heavy/through traffic: Newport Road, Niton Road, A3020 Main Road (Rookley), Newport Road (Godshill), West Street, Whitwell Road, Godshill Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road and Rectory Road.
RYDE:
B3330 Puckpool Hill (from the Boat to near Thornton Cottage)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Monday 3 February and Friday 7 February 2013 for cable works by A/plant for British Telecom.
The works will be undertaken in short sections.
Traffic delays will occur.
B3330 St Johns Hill (from St Johns Road Railway Bridge, Moreys Timber Store to School Street).
Temporary traffic lights were in operation from 9am on Monday 16 September until approx. 4pm on Friday 6 December 2013 for the renewal of the water main & services by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
SANDOWN:
A3055 Avenue Road/ Morton Common will be closed from 6.30pm until 6am on approximately 5 nights from Monday 11 November 2013 until Friday 20 December 2013 (weather permitting) between Broadway and Morton Old Road. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works between Broadway and a point 100 metres northeast of Perowne Way by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: A3055 Broadway, Lake Hill and Sandown Road, A3056 Newport Road, Hale Common and Arreton Street, Downend Road, Mersley Down Road, Brading Down Road, Bullys Hill, The Mall and Hornsey Rise and Morton Road.
Avenue Road will be closed from 6.30pm until 6pm on the nights of Thursday 12 December, Friday 13 December and Monday 16 December 2013 (weather and other circumstances permitting) between Broadway and St Johns Crescent, Sandown. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The diversion route will be: Southeast bound; Broadway, Station Avenue, Albert Road, Victoria and Avenue Road. Northwest bound; Avenue Road, Carter Street and Broadway.
The diversion route will be: Southeast bound; Broadway, Station Avenue, Albert Road, Victoria and Avenue Road. Northwest bound; Avenue Road, Carter Street and Broadway.
SHANKLIN:
A3020 Victoria Avenue (at junction with Highfield Road).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 3 February until approx. 5pm on Friday 7 February 2013 for the installation of new electric connections by Scottish & Southern Energy.
Traffic delays will occur.
Chine Avenue will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 25 November 2013 and Friday 20 December between High Street and Queens Road. The closure is required for carriageway surfacing works by Island Roads.
The alternative route for traffic will be Through Traffic: A3055 North Road and High street. Local Traffic: Queens Road, Clarendon Road, A3055 North Road and High Street. Access into Vernon Meadow Car Park will be maintained as far as possible.
ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will be closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between 9am on Monday 4 November until Wednesday 30 April 2014 for carriageway stabilisation and repair works between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road andMirableswhich is located about a mile towards Niton, by Island Roads.
Geotechnical works to strengthen the road at theUndercliff, in the Niton / St Lawrence area is one of the first of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI.
In this area underlying clay foundations have caused frequent ground movement. Geotechnical work will be undertaken in three areas; In the vicinity of Undercliff Caravan Park and a property called Woodlands, the highway will be anchored by 25-metre steel cables driven through the clay strata into a more substantial layer of rock.
At a location above Hunts Road, more than 100 ten-metre concrete piles will be drilled into the rock to strengthen the highway
DIVERSION ROUTE: A3055 Undercliff Drive, Barrack Shute, Institute Hill, New Road, Starr Inn Road and Church Street, Rectory Road, Chatfield Road, Kemming Road, High Street (Whitwell), Ventnor RD, Whitwell Road, Gills Cliff Road, Castle Road, A3055 Steephill Road and Undercliff Drive.
SHANKLIN:
A3055 North Road (outside number, near to the junction with Cross Street).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 7 October until approx. 4pm on Friday 20 December 2013 and if necessary from 9am on Monday 6 January until Friday 24 January 2013 for the reconstruction of a sewer manhole chamber, connection of sewer pipework and install a newmonitoring kiosk by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water.
Traffic delays will occur.
Manual control of the temporary traffic lights will be undertaken at times as necessary.
A3055 North Road (outside Gaynor House).
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 4 February until approx. 4.30pm on Thursday 6 February 2014 for the installation of a gas connection by Southern Gas Networks.
Traffic delays will occur.
The Shanklin to Wroxall Cycle Track. From 9am on Monday 18 November until approx.5pm on Friday 20 December 2013 no pedestrians, cyclists or horses shall use the Shanklin to Wroxall Cycle Track from its junction with Hyde Road (Shanklin) to its junction with Yarborough Close (Wroxall). The diversion route will be; Hyde Road, Footpath SS92, Byway SS87, A3020 Godshill Road, B3327 St Johns Road, Castle Road and Yarborough Road (Wroxall). The closure is necessary for cycle track widening and resurfacing works.
Note: It is proposed to undertake the works in short sections, therefore only part of the Cycle track will be closed at a time. Details will be advertised in advanced and as works proceed.
A3055 Cowleaze Hill (at junc with Church Road at bottom of hill)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 18 December and if necessary on Thursday 19 December 2013 for carriageway repairs by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.
VENTNOR:
Bath Road. A one way restriction will be in operation from La Falaise car Park to Belgrave Road between 9am on Tuesday 29 October until approx. 9am on Monday 19 May 2014 due to the reduction in road for the protection to masonry at retaining wall R1074 above a property called Seacourt.
DIVERSION ROUTE: Belgrave Road, ZigZag Road, Alpine Road, Church Street, Hambrough Road, Shore Hill, Esplanade and Bath Road.
Castle Road was closed between Park Avenue and ZigZag Road from 6.30am on Wednesday 20 November until 5pm on Tuesday 10 December 2013 .The closure was required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
All works have been completed.
Market Street will be closed from 6.30am until 6pm on approximately 3 to 5 days between Monday 4 November 2013 and Thursday 19 December 2013 between High Street and Albert Street. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing works by Island Roads.
The one way restriction in Market Street will be temporarily suspended during the closure to allow access to businesses and premises.
The diversion route will be: Albert Street, Pier Street and High Street.
VENTNOR:
Madeira Road will be closed from 9am on Monday 16 December 2013 until 4pm on Tuesday 17 December 2013 between Bonchurch Village Road and Madeira Vale, Ventnor. The closure is required for the installation of a new water service connection by Clancy Docwra on behalf of Southern Water
The diversion route will be: Trinity Road and Madeira Road..
WOOTTON:
A3054 Kite Hill (at Wootton Bridge). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9am and 3.30pm on Monday 16 December, Tuesday 17 December and Wednesday 18 December 2013 for the repair of safety barriers by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.
YARMOUTH:
A3054 Tennyson Road / Bouldnor Road between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park.
A scheme to strengthen an unstable stretches of the A3054 highway started in November 2013 and should be completed by the end of April 2014.
The project at Bouldnor Road is one of 18 geotechnical schemes to maintain the road network being undertaken by Island Roads as part of the Highways PFI.
The work will involve strengthening a 700-metre stretch of the highway between the Viewpoint Car Park and Yarmouth Green. 650 steel sheet piles will be driven up to 16 metres into the ground, a process called ‘soil nailing’ will also be used to stabilise the highway at the Yarmouth end of the scheme.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 5pm on Monday 31 March 2014 at various locations between The Common and The Viewpoint Car Park.
Traffic delays will occur.
It will be necessary to close A3054 Bouldnor Road at times during part of March and April 2014 to enable the works to be completed. Further details will be given / advertised nearer the time.
Vehicles over 6ft 6in in width are advised to use an alternative route during the next few weeks due to the narrow road width.
A temporary clearway order to prevent vehicles from stopping on the carriageway, footway , verges and any lay-bys will be in operation in A3054 Bouldnor Road from a point 460 metres to the North East of Thorley Road junction to a point 160 metres to the West of Thorley Road junction and in B3401 Thorley Road from the junction with A3054 Bouldnor Road to a point 120 metres to the South East. This Order is required in the interests of road safety whilst carriageway stabilisation and repair works are undertaken.
The order will be operation from 8am on Monday 4 November 2013 until 6pm on Wednesday 30 April 2014.

A3054 Tennyson Road /Bouldnor Road was not closed from The Mount to B3401 Tennyson Road between 10pm and approx. 12am (midnight) on Wednesday 11 December 2013) as was proposed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The closure has been re-scheduled to take place in the evening in the next few days for a pilling rig to be offloaded from an articulated vehicle to be used in connection with the highway strengthening geotechnical scheme currently being undertaken by Island Roads near to the junction with B3401 Thorley Road.
