Hundreds, if not thousands, of scooterists have descended on to the Isle of Wight this weekend for the annual Scooter Rally.
As is the tradition, today (Sunday), sees the mass ride-out take place.
Scooterists will be leaving Ryde’s Planet Ice car park at 1pm today and as usual there will be diversions of other road users.
Scooter ride-out
The ride-out will be taking the following route
A3055 Esplanade, East Hill Road and Appley Road, B3330 Calthorpes Road, Pondwell Hill, Nettlestone Hill, (Nettlestone), Nettlestone Green, Eddington Road and Upper Green Road (St Helens) B3395 Station Road, Embankment Road, Kings Road, Sherbourne Street, High Street (Bembridge), Mill Road, Sandown Road, Yaverland Road and Culver Parade, (Sandown), Fort Street, Avenue Road, Perowne Way and Station Approach ending at Shanklin / Sandown Rugby Club.
Esplanade closure
As usual Ryde esplanade will be closed from George Street to North Walk between approx. 11.15am and 2.30pm.
If you’re planning to pick up of drop off passengers for the Hover, be aware that no vehicles will be allowed to enter or leave from Quay Road Car Park or the Hovercraft Terminal from approx. 11.15am until 2.30pm.
Diversion for local traffic
Eastbound: George Street, Melville Street, Dover Street, East Street, The Strand and Esplanade (The Strand to North Walk).
Westbound: Dover Street, Melville Street, Cross Street, Union Street, Esplanade (Union Street to George Street) and George Street.
