The ‘I Love Isle of Wight Milk‘ campaign has attracted the support of Michelin starred chef Robert Thompson.
The chef behind the widely renowned Hambrough, who is well known for his support for locally sourced food and ingredients said, “Supporting our ‘Wight Isle’ in any way is so important – Isle of Wight milk is a brilliant example. How can you not support such a positive local initiative?”
Thanks for the support
His backing for the Island produced, processed and packaged milk was welcomed by the Chairman of the Island dairy farmers group, Justin Birch who commented, “We are really excited about the future of our Isle of Wight milk thanks to the support of so many Island people, businesses and the Island media.
“Following the launch, last month, of our newly branded milk demand has been growing steadily. Southern Co-op who only recently started stocking our milk in their Cowes and Freshwater shops, are now planning to offer it in two other Island stores. Tesco report significant growth in demand and we are in serious negotiations with the other large Island supermarkets.”
Campaign has been running for three months
The Island’s MP, Andrew Turner, spoke of his pleasure over the achievements of the campaign to support local milk.
Mr Turner commented, “It is only just over three months since we launched the campaign at the Garlic Festival, so it is really satisfying to see the newly branded Isle of Wight milk on the shelves of so many shops and stores. Many people have made a point of coming up to me to say how glad they are to have the choice to buy Isle of Wight milk and to congratulate us on the success of the campaign. Endorsements from high profile figures like Robert Thompson can only build on that success.”
