The Isle of Wight Film Network closes their programming for the Quay Arts cinema season from May – Aug 08 with their chosen theme of BAFTA award winners.
This time it is Ruby Blue. An excellent new film by award winning South East England based company MEDB Films. There will be a Q&A session with the Director after the screening.
Jack (Bob Hoskins) is consumed by guilt and past regret.
Hope arrives in the unlikely form of eight year old, Florrie, when she moves in next door.
When his glamorous French neighbour, Stephanie (Josiane Balasko) takes pity on him, Jack cannot help but fall for her charms.
Then his innocent friendship with Florrie is thrown into question when the girl goes missing and Stephanie reveals a well kept secret, throwing Jack’s life into turmoil.
His son comes to his defence amidst the local mob mentality and Jack finally realises he must face his own prejudices to win back Stephanie’s love.
The cinema audience are welcome to enjoy a drink from the bar while watching the film.
The Isle of Wight Film Network is an organisation for film professionals on the Island, and for bringing mainland filmmakers to work and shoot here.
