Rugby: Ventnor need to sticking to the game plan

Nolan shares this latest news from Ventnor RFC. Ed

Fordingbridge 1st XV 60 – 23 Ventnor 1st XV
A tale of two halves and a try bonus point for Ventnor – the first of the season.

It’s fair to say the first half was pretty one sided with Fordingbridge putting 48 points past Ventnor on the very wide pitch. Ventnor’s only answer to this in the first half was an Andrew Gough’s penalty and an unconverted try from Jake Babington.

Second half movement
In the second half however, Ventnor finally got off the coach running in three more tries. Ed Blake got his first busting through the line after a tap penalty. James Morley got the third try of the match diving over from close range after a gap opened up at the side of a ruck.

This gave Ventnor four minutes to get the fourth try for the bonus point. There were relentless attacks from the visitors probing the Fordingbridge defense from all angles.

Eventually the ball was dotted on the line by Ed Blake with the last play of the match.

Stick to the game plan
A boost of confidence for Ventnor who have proved that they can compete with the bigger teams in the league when they stick to the game plan.

Also Sam Lines run of scoring in every match unfortunately came to an end. However he still has nine tries in eight games!
