Julie King - Ryde Harriers:

Runners take part in annual five mile race

Thanks to Tom for this latest update from Ryde Harriers. Ed

In warm conditions, but fading light over thirty runners took on the flat course to Seaview and back then out and back along the Esplanade.

First runner home was Joe Wade, who as a guest was not applicable for the championship trophy. His time of 28:46 was even more impressive when witnessing the effort he was putting in for it.

Men’s trophy
Winner of the men’s trophy was Tom Blackwell after a good battle with fell running weekend champion Les Cupis. Tom finished just 12 seconds ahead in 31:37. Third place overall went to Simon Newman in 32:13. Pete Still took the vet 40 prize whilst Graham Maitland scooped the vet 60 award.

Women’s trophy
Julie King continued her strong form to take the women’s trophy in 37:02, but the next three places saw the closest contest with Mandy Womack taking second in 39:10 just ahead of Charlotte Pacy in 39:24, who in turn was just ahead of Emily Wildon in 39:46. Rosie Eldridge claimed her first championship win taking the v35 crown in 40:18.
