Be proud of yourself Ventnor, not only did Russell Brand (not Grant as I’ve just written!) choose to come to Ventnor to knock around town on his recent visit to the Isle of Wight, but one of you, Sister Grim, broke the story on the VentnorBlog Forum.
Despite having had an early heads up on this, we made the decision to give him a break while he was on the Island and not run the story.
As you may well be aware Mr Brand coming to the Island has been running on the Island’s media sources for nearly a week now, with IW Radio being a particularly enthusiastic participant.
Russ – as we believe his fans call him – spoke to those who would listen about how the paparazzi had followed him down to the Island. Beyond understanding the whys and wherefores of how paparazzi just happen to be knocking around the streets of Ventnor, we were rather surprised to hear that there was some video of the large-haired fellow online.
Russ is clearly pretty relaxed about public and press attention. He waggles around a couple of Home & Gardens finest hammers – any excuse to show his love of West Ham.
Later in the video he’s rattling around on a tractor, during his shooting party.
By strange co-incidence/planning Wikipedia tells us that he “recorded The Beatles song “When I’m Sixty-Four” with Grammy Award-winning composer David Arnold for the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” – that’s the one with the line in it about the the Isle of Wight
Every summer we can rent a cottage,
In the isle of wight, if it’s not too dear
Any more Russ trips to the Island, could well be appearing on the Island’s own, IOW Russell Brand Fans Club, so keep your eye peeled.
