Ryde Academy celebrates exceptional A-Level and CTEC results, students secure top university places

Sixth Formers from Ryde Academy are today celebrating some exceptional results in their A Levels and CTECs, securing places at some top universities, including Southampton and Surrey.

This is the second year that exams have taken place as normal, but schools across the country are still dealing with the impact of the pandemic.

Some phenomenal results
Staff from Ryde Academy and across AET, a national network of schools, were celebrating some phenomenal results from students, including: 

  • Anna Cockayne has achieved As in Biology and Maths and B in Chemistry.  She also has an A in her EPQ. She is planning to study Medicine at Leeds.  
  • Ethan Wolfe has achieved A in Politics and Bs in History and English. He is planning to study Politics at Southampton.
  • Tomasz Kozibroda has achieved A in English Literature and Bs in History and Politics. Tom is off to study Law at Surrey university. 
  • Meghan Colleypriest has achieved A in extended project, Distinction* in Health and Social Care, B in Biology and C in Maths. Meghan is going to study Paramedic Science at Gloucester.

To support them and help prepare them for their exams, staff at Ryde Academy laid on additional lessons, holiday sessions and worked with external subject coaches to support individual students to gain the best grades possible.

Ballard: Hard work has paid off
Joy Ballard, Principal at Ryde Academy, said,

“We are hugely proud of our students who have worked through a challenging few years to achieve their A-Level and Ctec grades which will set them up for further success in the future.

“We have students going off to exciting destinations with bright futures ahead of them. Hard work has paid off and we wish all our students the best of luck for their next steps.”

Boomer-Clark: They’ve shown so much resilience
Rebecca Boomer-Clark, Chief Executive of AET said,

“We are all so incredibly proud of our sixth formers today; they have worked so hard and shown so much resilience over the last few years and I’m delighted that they have done so well.

“I know how much today means to the staff team too – they have been there every step of the way providing support and encouragement and I know they will be full of emotion at how well the students have done.

“Anna, Ethan, Tomasz, and Meghan have done particularly well, and I wish them the very best for their next exciting steps.”

Schools Minister, Nick Gibb said,

“Congratulations to all those receiving their results for their A Levels and GCSEs this summer. Students at Ryde Academy should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and we are hugely grateful to teachers for all their hard work.

“For many pupils, these will have been the first formal set of exams they have ever taken and we have done everything that we can to ensure they are walking away with qualifications that hold value now and in the future.

“These results will enable pupils to take the next step in their lives, whether that’s in further education, an apprenticeship or the workplace and I wish them all the best whatever they decide to do.”
