Thanks to Tom for this latest report from the Ryde Harriers running team. Ed
In Ryde, ten runners took on the Westridge Round with maximum points for nominating the correct time going to Julie King, who was 48 seconds quicker than her stated time of 52.15 for the 6.4 mile course.
Regular guest Richard Jones was first home just ahead of club captain Pete Still.
Sunny Sandown
Over in Sandown a group of fourteen undertook the 8.5 miles of American Adventure. The course featured a selection of long hills, as it wound out and back to America Wood on Shanklin’s outskirts.
In very warm conditions, Simon Newman finished just over fifteen minutes ahead of Abi Cooke and Philipa Daley, but shared the nomination points with them as they were all 42 seconds away from their nomination times.
Next meet
The Isle of Wight half-marathon takes place this Sunday at 11am from Appley Park with a fun run raising funds for IW Youth Trust running in conjunction.
Entries for both will be accepted on the day but be aware there is a limit of 500 for the half-marathon and the pre-entry total is close to this.
Get there early to guarantee a place!
