Ryde Harriers see good start to 2014 club nights

Ryde Harriers began their 2014 club nights (on Tuesday 7th January) with large turnout for nominated race on their new 10k course. 

Andy Lewis :The route winds its way through the centre of Ryde and then on through Binstead, before a long run-in along the Esplanade. In perfect running conditions, winner of the nominated competition was Andy Lewis who was only two seconds from his predicted time with Rowland Sillito second at six seconds out and Mandy Womack third.

Fastest runners on the night were Tom Blackwell and guest runner Simon McMorran who cruised in for 43.22 closely followed by Simon Newman with a time of 43.41 showing he is returning to good form. Sarah Kavanagh was fastest woman on the night, just behind Simon and finishing with a time of 44.06.

Next race
Upcoming Harriers events include the IOW Cross-Country Championship on 26th January at Smallbrooke Stadium. This open race has a men’s course of seven miles and women’s course of five miles with entry fees £3 only.

Races start at 11am sharp. Entries are also open for the annual Ryde 10 road race on 2nd February.
