Ryde Harriers take on the 10k challenge

Thanks to Tom for this report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed

A 10km nominated race was the challenge with ‘old’ course heaving the beast that is Well Street into view in the early part of the run. Some like to charge up it and pay later, others take a more measured approach and save the pace for the later part of the run.

Husband and wife champions for the night
Winner of the nomination race was Andy Lewis, claiming his second win in January with his prediction only 8 seconds out from his run time of 44.36. He was followed by his wife Bridget and Karen Collet who crossed the line together for the second week running, this time in joint second place 11 seconds from their nominated time.

Fastest runners on the night were Tom Blackwell for the men, who finished with a time of 40.54, and Sarah Kavanagh for the women at 41.51.

Next run
Next Tuesday’s club night run is a 5 mile race. New runners always welcome with a spread of abilities at the club there is always someone to run with!

The Harriers also organise the Ryde 10 mile race on Sunday 2nd February. Race start time is 11am and there is online entry via www.rydeharriers.co.uk but entries on the day will be excepted if there is still space.
