Ryde Harriers take on ‘Race the Train’ and IW Half Marathon

On Saturday 17th August Ryde Harrier, Tom Hill ran in ‘Race the Train’ which is a 14 mile cross country race against a steam train along the Talyllyn railway Tywyn, Powys.

Ryde Harriers Race the trainThe run attracts fell runners and club runners from all over the country who like wind, rain, deep mud and killer hills.

Tom ran the race in a time of two hours, seven minutes and eight seconds, which was inside his predicted time, but not fast enough to beat the train which finished in one hour and 50 minutes.

Isle of Wight half marathon
The Isle of Wight half marathon was held on Sunday 18th August organised by Ryde Harriers and 87 entries were taken on the day which gave us a finishing record entry of 378 runners.

The winner was local runner Tom Wade running for Aldershot Farnham and District and the first Ryde Harrier home was Krisitian Rowdon in a time of 1.29.33, followed by Les Cupis – 1.34.54, Pete Still – 1.47.19, first lady Harrier to cross the finish line was Mandy Womack in a time of 1.48.16, Lindsey Brazier – 1.55.39, Jane McGregor – 1.55.47, Richard Lashley – 1.57.18, Peter Carr – 2.02.02, Lisa King – 2.06.53, Emma Carline – 2.16.23.
