More good work by Ryde Inshore Rescue – Ed
Ryde Inshore Rescue responded to an urgent call from a yacht at 15:10 Friday afternoon.
The 32ft sailing vessel with 4 people on board put out a “pan pan” after running aground on Ryde Sands.
The gusting Northerly winds and squalls that kept passing through the area meant that the anchor they laid to remain in position was unreliable and they were constantly being blown back on to the sandbank.
The Crew of Ryde Rescue 1, helmed by Nic White, quickly got to their position and towed them off in to safe, deep water.
Nobody onboard was injured and they made their own way back to Portsmouth harbour.
