Update from George at Cowes RNLI, in his own words, Ed
A sailing dinghy in danger of drifting into the Solent’s main shipping lane led to Cowes RNLI lifeboat racing to its aid last night.
The dinghy, sailed by a young man, was virtually becalmed in the light winds near to Bourne Gap Buoy between Calshot and Beaulieu River. The possible danger was reported to Solent Coastguards.
The lifeboat, helmed by Steve Price, was soon on the scene and, after speaking to the yachtsman arranged for his boat to be towed back to Gurnard Sailing Club by the club’s safety boat.
