Whilst on the Save Our Schools march on Saturday we also grabbed a few minutes with founder of White Air, Nigel Howell. He has kids in school on the Island and is clearly troubled by the proposals.
So much so, that he and a few others he works with on White Air pulled together to get posters, flyers and a website up and running just prior to the demo on Saturday.
They’ve created an umbrella site for information (sosiow.com) with details of any protest meetings, names of co-ordinators at schools. etc.
Nigel stressed that as teachers are unable to comment (as they are employed by the council), each area needs a leader to become the local co-ordinator and take on the role of contact for parents in the area.
The message to the council is “We know there needs to be change, but do it the right way.”
It’s hoped that the SOSIOW website will attract comments and ideas from parents which can be put forward to the council for consideration.
On their site, you’ll also find a video of the march on Saturday.
