Conservative Isle of Wight MP, Andrew Turner, and Ian Ward, the Chairman of the Isle of Wight council both took part earlier today in the IceBucketChallenge for Motor Neurone Disease at the Riverside Centre in Newport.
As readers will know Andrew Turner was nominated for the challenge earlier this week by Newport resident Adam Harvey.
Richard Priest, who runs the Riverside Centre, also apparently nominated Andrew Turner and Ian Ward for the challenge.
Support your local branch
After the soaking, which you can see below courtesy of the County Press, the secretary of the IW branch of the MNDA spoke to the onlookers.
He explained that in normal circumstances there’s so much red tape involved for MND sufferers to receive help, that by the time the red tape has been gone through it can often be too late.
That’s where the local branch steps in, the money they raise pays for a whole host of things to help Islanders such as stair lifts, wet rooms and wheel chair hire.
He said the branch was very grateful for any help they receive. To show your support visit the MNDA IW branch Website and contact the secretary to find out how to donate.
