Serious head and facial injuries for man assaulted in early hours of Saturday morning

Isle of Wight Police officers are appealing for information after a 49-year-old man was assaulted in East Cowes.

Just before 3am on Saturday, 10th July officers received a report after a man was seriously assaulted near to a wooded area along East Cowes Esplanade.

He suffered serious head and facial injuries and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he remains, receiving treatment for his injuries.

Gamble: Come forward and speak to us
Detective Constable Adam Gamble, said,

“We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward and speak to us.

“Were you in the area on Friday evening or during the early hours of Saturday morning?

“Did you see or hear something that could be connected to this incident?”

Arrested
A 17-year-old boy and 43-year-old man, both from the Isle of Wight, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, and have been released under investigation.
