Shanklin Rotary Sale: £41,500 And Counting! (Podcasts)

At the start of the week a whopping £28,000 had already been raised during the first week of the Shanklin Rotary Sale. We just called and learned that the total has risen to £41,500. There’s great hope that the total of last year for £44,500 could be reached, or even passed.

Shanklin Rotary Web site grabVB dropped in to the Lower Hyde site on Tuesday to have a quick chat with two of the organisers of the event, Tony Compton and Mike Jones, President of the Shanklin Rotary and the recordings are below.

Fifty volunteers involved
The event, that Mike told us had been running about 20 years (we’ve been writing about it since 2007, has the help of about fifty people who are involved with putting the event on – Rotarians, their wives and other helpers.

They get huge numbers of people through the doors, with the initial hour of the first day of last week they had 500 people through the door.

Visit before it closes
If you’ve never been to the Shanklin Rotary sale, we’d recommend it. There’s a huge collection of things there from the smallest to big bits of furniture.

There are still a couple of days left for you to pick up a bargain or two, and new items appearing on a daily basis.

Listen in
Have a listen to chats we had with a couple of those involved with making sure it all runs smoothly.
