Readers might remember back in November, we reported news that The Isle of Wight Short Film Festival is teaming up with the Minghella Film Festival later this year.
Organiser of the IW Short Film festival, Bruce Webb, tells us that this year they’ll be running an afternoon of The Best of the Isle of Wight Short Film Festival, Screen South Digital Shorts and work from local schools and colleges, with master classes and Q and A’s with short film and feature film cast and crew.
He goes on to say “It’s really exciting to be able to showcase local talent at such a high level and in such a great venue. To be able to have education projects which can further nurture and develop the Islands movie skills at all levels is something I’ve wanted to see happen here – so that we don’t all have march off to London to learn how its done but can stay on the Island to improve our skills.”
Fancy entering a film?
Organisers recognise that the period between the 2009 competition deadline and the 2010 March date is fairly short in order to produce new films, so they’ve changed they’ve set a deadline for the short film competition of Christmas 2010.
This should be ample time to get busy with the camera ready for the 2011 deadline.
So why not put the festival dates in your diary so you can pick up tips and advice from the experts.
