Slade Electrical of High Street, Ventnor are moving into other forms of energy beyond electricity.
They recently started stocking bags of reconstituted blocks of surplus sawdust that provide a green solution to fuelling wood burners or fires.
Keen to source them from the Island, shop owner Lester, tracked down a company in Cowes that uses the surplus wood from things like boat making – a mixture of hard and soft wood – to make the circular burnable tablets.
Bags of them sell for £1.99 for a approx 5Kg weight.
We’ve yet to try them, but are sure to give them a go if the temperature drops more.
