Solent and travel update (Update 4)

For those who were awoken last night by the strong winds, there will be little surprise to hear that there are some interruptions in cross-Solent travel.

Currently the Hover (as of 06:01) is “suspended due to adverse weather conditions.”

Update 08:16: Confirmed: Hover running again. Journey just completed.
Note Hovertravel’s Website is still saying service is suspended. At 8:40 Hovertravel updated their Website to say all was back to normal.

The RedJet was suspended this morning, but resumed from 07:15 from both Southampton and West Cowes, as they say “Wind and tide now in our favour.”

Wightlink
Wightlink have released no official updates, but On The Wight reader Stacy Jardine tell us that she’s on the FastCat, but “apparently only a one boat service due to the other one hitting a buoy on its way over.”

The car ferries appear to be working according to the system put in place by Andy SC that directly monitors their movements.

Update 9:53 Just got official word from Wightlink
The Portsmouth – Fishbourne service is running to timetable.
The Lymington – Yarmouth service was slightly delayed early this morning but is now running to timetable.
The Portsmouth – Ryde catamaran service is currently running to timetable after some disruption to service earlier this morning following a temporary loss of power on Wight Ryder I.

Route 8 interrupted
Southern Vectis say Police have closed Downend Road due to a fallen tree. This has caused the Route 8 is currently diverted from Furrlongs, left onto Staplers Road then Blackwater Road to Arreton in both directions.

Update 9:18: Downend Road has now been reopened. Route 8 will resume normal operation between Arreton and Newport. Both Routes 8 delayed in Sandown/Yaverland are continuing their journey although some 15 minutes late. This route cannot serve stops between Sandown and Yaverland Manor due to fallen tree.

Update 9:48: Due to contractors repairing telephone cables in Yaverland, Route 8 will divert via Sandown Rd and Morton Common to Sandown
