Wightlink Islanders No.1 Tom Perry has unfortunately lost his battle to be fit enough to return to the side in tonight’s second leg KO Cup clash against the Kent CTA Fire Kings at Smallbrook.

Steve WorrallThe club’s management have therefore moved quickly to book in King’s Lynn’s No.1 Steve Worrall to deputise for him in the fifteen heat match that gets underway at 7pm.

The St Helens-born 22 year old, whose twin brother Richie is also a current rising star within the sport, saw speedway on television some years ago having ridden in junior motoX events and decided there and then that not only did he like the action he saw that night, but that was what he was going to do himself!

He started by riding in amateur events and made rapid progress finishing runner up to current Grand Prix star Tai Woffinden in the 2011 British Under 21 championship at Lakeside.

Islanders co-promoter Chris Hunt said,

“We’d like to thank Steve for stepping into the No.1 spot for us tonight. We’re confident he’ll do a good job for us in tonight’s match where we fully intend to win through to the next round of the cup.”

The on-track action gets underway at 7pm and the big question is can the Wightlink Islanders reach the next round of the KO Cup?

Why not come along and find out!
