Speedway: Wightlink Islanders aiming to pot the Potters

We go into the match without Aaron Baseby of course following his recall by Mildenhall last week, which has led to us having to move the in-form Paul Starke up into the No.5 spot in the team and drafting Ross Walter into the vacant reserve berth to partner Danny Stoneman.

Visitors Stoke currently lie in third place in the National League table but that will not deter the Wightlink Islanders as they look to make it three wins out of three in the Trophy competition having previously seen off the challenges of both Buxton and Mildenhall.

Stoke boast a powerful heat leader trio though consisting of youngster Ashley Birks plus the vastly experienced duo of Tony Atkin and James Cockle and most certainly the Wightlink Islanders will have to battle hard to defeat them in what promises to be a cracking night’s action.

Tough on Aaron
As previously reported, the popular Aaron Baseby was recalled by Mildenhall Fen Tigers last week from his loan spell with ourselves, but unfortunately his season has been ended by an injury sustained in his first match back with them.

He suffered a broken ankle as a result of a fall whilst riding at Stoke on Saturday night.

Everybody at the club here sends him our very best wishes to him for a speedy and full recovery.
