After a Royal Garden opening visit by The Duchess of Gloucester of the new Isle of Wight Ambulance Station at St Mary’s Hospital, judges from the Visit IW Wight In Bloom Tourism, Business, and Community Awards presented a second consecutive award.
This was in the Large Complex Garden, as part of a Residential, Nursing or Caring Environment category.
Providing ownership
The project has offered ownership to Ambulance Crews and Admin Staff, who regularly maintain and up keep the Rest and Well Being Garden to make sure it can be enjoyed by service users, as a welcoming place to reflect and recover from busy hospital shift patterns.
Enhanced the team’s morale
The garden has enhanced the team’s morale, and on their behalf Darren Clayden, Station Commander and Hospital Estates Worker, Stephen Double, collected an Art Plaque presented at Albert Cottage, East Cowes to them by IW High Sheriff, Graham Biss, on Thursday last week.
The diversity and excellence of all the other winners at the awards ceremony was staggering, all promoting the Garden Isle as a haven for visitors.
