Undercliff cycle route

Success for Cycling campaigners as Undercliff now signposted as leisure route

Cyclists on the Isle of Wight are celebrating after their four year campaign finally comes good as Undercliff Drive is now signposted as a leisure cycle route.

The Undercliff is a wonderful place to walk or cycle and as plans to reopen the road to drivers has faded, it’s likely to remain this way for a long time.

Cycle Wight, an advocacy group that seeks better cycle provision on the Island, worked hard on the campaign to have the route signposted as a leisure route.

Thorne: Congratulations to George Wilks for his perseverance
Tim Thorne from the group explained,

“After four years of campaigning we are pleased to see that the Undercliff between Ventnor and Niton has been signed as a leisure route.

“This is such a great ride for those in the know. Let us hope it becomes much more widely appreciated.

“Congratulations to George Wilks for his perseverance in making this happen.”
