Summer Madness: Site Map, Details Of Catering, Parking and Transport UPDATED

As we reported a few days ago, the anticipation for Sunday’s Summer Madness event is growing.

Summer Madness! If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, we still have a few left which you can buy tomorrow from Suzes Room, 10a Pier Street, Ventnor between 11am-5pm or by calling us on 898 999.

The IW Council stipulated that tickets must not be sold at the venue, so buying them tomorrow will be your last chance to get in.

As well as all the music on offer during the day, VB has been told that there will also be an abundance of food and drink outlets offering you a variety of cuisines from around the world, including many local caterers.

No picnics or booze
As is the trend with many promoters these days, we’ve been told that no food or drink will be allowed onto site (apart from water or non-alcoholic drinks in 500ml sealed bottles).

One upside, at least you won’t have to worry about lugging it all from the bus or car(!)

No chairs on site
We’ve also been informed that Police have stipulated that No collapsible chairs will be allowed on site. This is not the wishes of the promoter, but we understand that they’ve been told that collapsible chairs could be considered as weapons … and no, we’re not winding you up.

So make sure you pack a blanket and a couple of cushions.

UPDATE1: The Police have been in touch to tell us that they’ve got no objection to chairs being taken in. We’re checking with the promoter again to see if they’re now going to allow chairs on site. We’ll let you know when we hear back from them.

UPDATE2: The Promoters have confirmed that collapsible chairs will not be allowed on site.

Parking
We’re awaiting a site map from the promoters, but can let you know that there is parking (entrance to car park on the corner of Froglands Lane and Whitcombe Road) for around 4,500 cars and shuttle buses will be running from various points around the Island.

Buses
Southern Vectis are operating a shuttle bus service from Cowes and Ryde ferry ports and from Newport Bus Station to the event site.

Buses also leave the event site on these routes at the end of the concert.

On Foot from Newport Town Centre
Walk West from Newport High Street, continue up The Mall. Fork left up Castle Road which will bring you to the event pedestrian access route.
