Summer Madness: Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band Join the Lineup

When Kid Creole and the Coconuts were announced as one of the support acts for the forthcoming Summer Madness event, some people jumped to the conclusion that it was going to be an 80s day.

Think again lovely people.

The name Geno Washington should bring a gasp of excitement to any Northern Soul fan and although he and his original band, The Ram Jam Band are still performing in 2009 they certainly are not an 80s band.

Hailing for the 60s, this cult act is sure to have hearts on fire at Summer Madness at the end of the month.

Geno Washington is an absolute legend and without a doubt still has it ‘going on’.

Pretty lucky for us lot really, given that Geno says falling into music was an accident.

They were massive on the scene in the 60s knocking out classics such as ‘If This Is Love’ and ‘(I Gotta) Hold On To My Love’.

For those still stuck in the 80s, you’ve probably been humming ‘Ohhhhh Geno’ since starting to read this article and you might event know that the song was a nod to the great man himself. Kevin Rowland was inspired to write the song after seeing Geno Washington play a gig in Harrow in 1968.

Details of other support acts to follow shortly.
