It’s only a matter of weeks before the Summer Reading Challenge hits our libraries again.
Last year’s Quest Seekers was a huge success with children around the Island taking part in the reading initiative created by The Reading Agency.
The purpose of the initiative is to get more young people reading, and as the 9 year old bookworm in our household is testament too, it certainly works.
How does it work?
Children are set the task of reading st least six books over the course of the holidays.
During that time they collect incentives along the way (last year were cool stickers for the wall chart) and if they complete or exceed the task they pick up medals at the end.
This year the theme is ‘Space Hop’ and a kerrrazzzy new Website has been set up to bring readers together with top authors and illustrators.
All you need to do is pop along to your local library to find out more. Sign up is on 17th July.
