Readers will remember the article OnTheWight ran yesterday reporting that former intern, Alex Varley-Winter was involved in the scoop that exposed Rupert Murdoch for knowing about his Sun journalists bribing public officials.
One of those Sun journalists charged is former Islander who grew up in Bembridge.
According to a report in the CP this week, he is accused of “conspiring with unknown public officials at Broadmoor, Thames Valley and Surrey Police and officials in the British Army to conduct misconduct in a public office between 2002 and 2011”.
Allegations of illegal payments of £30,000
The allegations against him, as well as the Sun picture editor and a healthcare assistant formerly at Broadmoor, is that £30,000 was paid to officials for information relating to patients, police investigations and the Royal family.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates on 18th July 2013.
