We see a report on the BBC Website today that wind turbine blade manufacturing may soon return to the Island.
It won’t be the large scale blades that were previously produced by Vestas at their plant in Newport, but much smaller domestic blades.
Sean McDonagh (pictured here during the Vestas sit-in last year) has teamed up with Dorset-based businessman Keith Hounsell to form Sure Blades Ltd.
They aim to start manufacturing the micro blades at a location in Newport in the next months, and tell the BBC they already have a “significant order book”.
This is great news for ex-Vestas workers looking to return to skilled work on the Isle of Wight again.
Sure Blades Ltd are hoping to recruit several workers from the former Vestas plant.
