Readers will remember that at the weekend, a section of Parkhurst Forest was cordoned off due to a Police investigation.
The cordons were removed yesterday (Tuesday 28th August) and police activity has ceased at the site.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said today, “A number of suspicious items were removed from the forest for analysis and identification; they appear to be property related to crime.
“Any speculation by the media at this stage would be unhelpful to the ongoing police investigation. There is no evidence to suggest any threat or danger to the public.”
They added that, “no human remains have been found.”
Police also denied that the activity was in anyway related to the missing person enquiry relating to Damien Nettles.
