Thanks to Krissy for details of this recent fundraiser. Ed

Holly WardMembers of the West Wight Swimming Club have been swapping their swimming costumes for the catwalk.

22 youngsters aged five to 16 were joined by mums and even their instructors to become models for a fashion show to raise funds for new equipment.

The Riverside Centre offered use of their venue for the special event which was attended by over 170 people. More than £1,200 was raised which will go towards new lane ropes and starting blocks for the club that is based at the West Wight Sports Centre.

A raffle was also held on the night which proved so popular the first book of tickets sold out within 10 minutes, so a quick dash to the shops had to be made to buy another.

Some fabulous prizes were donated by Wightlink, Red Letter Day, Marks and Spencer, as well as Freshwater based businesses The Vine Inn, Cut & Run Hair Salon, The Rainbow Fish bar and Hayden Fennimore.

The clothing, which was sourced and supplied by JAS Fashion are manufactured for famous High Street stores such as Next, Gap, Marks and Spencers and Principles. The event proved so popular, it is hoped that it will become a regular feature in the clubs calendar.
