Take Part In The Vertical Marathon This Sunday With Goodleaf

We love this event being organised by our friends over at Goodleaf Tree Climbing this Sunday. Abi tells us more. Ed

Gold medal:Want to win Gold in 2012? We thought it would be fun to host our own Olympic event this Sunday and give our climbers the chance to win Bronze, Silver or Gold or even the highly coveted Green Goodleaf award!

‘Medals’ (stickers) will be awarded in relation to how far you’ve climbed and your name will go on the Team Goodleaf page on our Website.

Climb the distance of the marathon
We’ll add up the distance that each individual has climbed this season at the end of the climbing year – we hope that together we can climb the distance of the marathon! (That’s 42.195 km or 26 miles & 385 yds fact fans).

Donate 50p to take part
We’re asking all our climbers to support the Isle of Wight Special Olympics Team (IWSO) by donating 50p to take part.

The IWSO are sending a team to the national competition in 2013 – we thought it would be great to support Isle of Wight Olympians with our own Olympic effort.

Launching this Sunday
Local Brownies, Guides, Scouts and Cubs are already signed up; we’re launching the Vertical Marathon with a day of tree climbing in Appley Park, Ryde on the 17th June 2012.

Spectators are welcome, we hope some of the members of the IW Special Olympics team will also be there.

So get your tree climbing gear on – it could be you on the podium/branch this summer!
